Marketing Specialist

This position will be responsible for managing and overseeing the implementation of a variety of marketing projects across all markets.  They will also work on schematic development and implementation, space management analysis, and marketing and category projects in concert with other members of the Marketing team. 


Other key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Collect and interpret data from a variety of sources and develop sound project plans that will meet sales and margin targets.

  • Analyze and interpret financial data and other key performance indicators across food and beverage program, and develop corrective actions based on sound business principles and company standards.

  • Participate in vendor meetings to identify and leverage opportunities to improve programs and funding levels.

  • Develop marketing and promotional programs in assigned categories for implementation in stores that drive revenue and profitability.

  • Develop and implement merchandising tools including planograms, racking, and displays in alignment with company standards.

  • Monitor programs and identify improvement opportunities based on key metrics, analyze performance, and make alterations as necessary when shortfall to targets are identified. 

  • Communicate approved programs in a clear and effective manner with store managers and staff, or in group meetings with senior level operations.

  • Visit stores to ensure programs are implemented correctly and obtain feedback on improvement opportunities, ensure compliance with programs in concert with store personnel.


This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business, or related field, and a minimum of three year’s experience in the food retailing or convenience store industry; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  They must have a basic to intermediate knowledge of category management principles in the c-store environment.  The successful candidate must have strong analytical skills using a data-driven approach for strategic decision making.  They must be proficient with the MS Office suite, Outlook, and analytical tools.  Being self-motivated and having strong attention to detail are essential traits.  Must have the ability to work well in teams and independently with a wide degree of creativity, latitude, and decision making discretion.  Time management is also critical to meet department and promotion deadlines.
